NAEPC Webinar: Complimentary Webinar: Administering Trusts and Estate Planning Transactions: Reviewing Lessons from Cases and Practical Steps to Consider
Many clients believe that their estate planning is complete once they sign documents. However, as many important court decisions highlight, the IRS often challenges transactions based on the failure of taxpayers to properly administer their planning. Cases such as Galli, Rowland, Connelly, Sorensen, Smaldino and Levine highlighted the importance of proper documentation and implementation of planning. While these cases present a plethora of substantive law issues worthy of discussion, this program will focus on the practical lessons for estate planning professionals of all disciplines, and for clients of all wealth levels, about how to plan considering the lessons of these cases. Understanding what was done right or wrong provides valuable guidance on how to better structure and implement estate plans.

Thomas A. Tietz, Esq., is an Associate with Shenkman Law practicing in New York and New Jersey.
